As the rain subsides

So far, this rainy season has been one for the ages all across California. When clear days present themselves, it’s a good time to check for drainage issues around your home by inspecting the perimeters both up high (your rain gutters) and down low around the base of your home and particularly your downspouts and low spots. Air out your house and storage “structures” when you get a chance and check for any areas of moisture where dampness or mold may attempt to take hold. I use a product widely available called “damp-rid” which helps in a couple of tools sheds I have on my own property. If you are thinking of buying or selling Benicia real estate, please feel free to give me a call.

Serving Home Sellers

Here is a response I recently sent to another agent who was interviewing Realtors to list a home for clients of hers that were out of her area:

Hello Helen,

Thank you for calling me this evening regarding the potential referral in Pinole. I appreciate the time and care you are taking to find the right match for your client.
I moved to the Bay Area almost thirty years ago, and in that time I have lived in Contra Costa, Alameda, and Solano Counties. I have been a full time Realtor for over twelve years, and opened a RE/MAX Gold office in 2007 with two partners. I continue to primarily serve Contra Costa, Alameda, and Solano Counties, and also work in other Bay Area counties.
Currently it’s a sellers’ market in the Bay Area. I find that when my sellers price their homes within the range of recent sales, they usually get an offer, or multiple offers, within a couple of weeks on the market. In presenting multiple offers to my sellers, I prepare a spreadsheet that outlines the terms of each of the offers, so that we can more easily review them to determine a strategy for our responses. The spreadsheet also helps to better illuminate the strongest offers, and yield the highest sale price for my clients.
In previewing my seller clients’ homes I point out areas that can be improved upon to create the best marketability and return on investment. My father is a builder/ general contractor, so I grew up watching homes being built from the ground up.
Additionally, I have stagers that I entrust to prepare homes for the market.

Spring Time

Spring has come to Benicia with more homes for sale on the market, sunshine, and warmer temperatures. We are seeing an increase in home buying activity as buyers compete in what is still a demand driven real estate market. While supply has grown in Benicia to around forty homes and condos, it is still low considering the value Benicia offers potential home buyers within the San Francisco Bay Area. Great schools, and a charming and safe community are just a few of the amenities this wonderful town has to offer. If you’d like more information on available real estate or are thinking of placing your home for sale onto the market, please don’t hesitate to call me at 707-332-2111.

Spring Break

Spring break is here for those with kids in Benicia schools. It’s a great time if you’re fortunate to have teenagers that can help to take care of any home maintenance that they can help with. Weeding in your home’s landscaping, hammering nails that have come up on your decking or cleaning the outdoor furniture, among others. If they’re really industrious perhaps even a fresh coat of paint here and there.
